Purpose : Today, there is no reliable and validated tool to evaluate the competencies of university medical teachers. Long dominated by student assessment, there has recently been a proliferation of assessment sources. In this regard, 360-degree evaluation, which has already been used for half a century in industry and for a decade in clinical medicine, seems promising. The objective of the present study was to examine the reliability, validity and feasibility of the 360-degree evaluation for the evaluation of general practice teachers.
Method : Study conducted from January to October 2022. Use of the DELPHI method for the validation of a questionnaire initially created from a literature review in order to apply it in a second time to the evaluation of the teachers of the Department of General Medicine (DMG) of the Faculty of Poitiers via the 360 degrees evaluation. Solicitation of the 16 members of the DMG for validation of the questionnaire.
Results : The 16 panel members interviewed completed the entire DELPHI round. 74 items were submitted in the first round. As the results stabilized in the 3rd round, we decided to stop at 4 rounds. After 4 rounds, validation of a questionnaire of 62 items.
Conclusion : The DELPHI method allowed the creation of a validated questionnaire that could, in a second phase, be used for the evaluation of the competences of general medicine teachers via the 360 degrees method which seems promising for an application to the field of higher medical education because of a more complete feedback on the competences to be improved for each teacher.
